Q: What’s your musical background?

Music runs through entire family and generations. Whilst I’m  training in authentic indian classical dance, violin and piano, I have my my own youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/mahaviju/videos) where I display my performances that I give for various charity events in the UK.

Q: Anything fun or unique you’d like to share about your family?

My grand-father is a trained musician on percussion instrument like Tabla, he also performs Indian classical dance forms.  He also performed for Cambridge Asian Events in the UK.

Q: How do you structure piano lessons/practice for your family? Any tips to share?

I love to play in my keyboard. Sometimes that is the first thing I do as soon as I come back from school.

Currently we make sure I do at least two lessons in a week. Sometimes I like to play some Indian music on the keyboard and I do that making use of what I am learning from Carly.

Carly’s lessons are fun and I like the way she teaches.  But I see that its getting trickier as I progress.  I ask my mum to help or sit with me when I go through those tough lessons.

Q: How did you learn about Busy Moms/Kids Do Piano?

My mom came across Carly’s lessons on a Facebook advertisement and was impressed with the content. She showed it to me and I was happy to give it a try.

Q: Do you have any stories you’d like to share about your musical journey with piano lessons?

I love recreating the music I learn in Violin into Piano and also anything I learn in Piano back into Violin. If I like any songs I hear, I tend to play that in piano, violin and recorder. Example, I wanted to surprise my family by playing an Indian national anthem in all three instruments. Another interesting thing was there was a famous bollywood actress (Sridevi) that my parents like a lot and unfortunately she died recently.  Even though I have not seen her, I wanted to recreate some of the famous songs of her movies by playing them through piano. I also shared my video of playing the keyboard with Carly.
