Think your Thanksgiving table will be full this year? Well, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to a Busy Kids Do Piano family in Missouri who has been in the program for just under a year. In addition to Mom, Jenifer, learning to play, they have 6 children who are learning to play piano (Rachel (16), Kennah (15), David (11), Kaden (10), Blake (9), Addilyn (8)) and 4 others! The kids attend school at home and dive into the BKDP lessons multiple times per week.
If you’ve ever wondered how to incorporate the BKDP program into your family’s busy schedule, check out what Mom, Jenifer, has to say. “I LOOOOVE having a music program that is both affordable and manageable for our family! We have such a broad range of ages and abilities, but this has been perfect for our family! Each member can work where they are at in the time they have available.” If a mom of 10 can find a way, I’m betting so can you.
Jenifer interviewed her daughter Kennah – a personal fan of playing hymns – who offered her opinions on the program. “I like how Miss Carly teaches the different things; she explains everything well and walks you through stuff in a way that’s easy to understand.” I’m so glad you feel that way, Kennah!
Here’s her advice for other kids in the program or considering starting: “I would probably tell them you’ll need to practice pretty often and try hard, because some parts are pretty challenging.” Excellent advice, if you ask me.
What I loved most about this interview is how Jenifer describes her motivation for enrolling her kids in BKDP. Read how beautifully she’s worded this.
I have wanted to learn for years and have dabbled with the thought of lessons off and on, but it seemed impossible to manage while schooling the kids, running the house, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with large family life.
For my children, I wanted to be able to equip them with a skill that would serve them well in life, and playing music is so beneficial for the brain. Whether they become extremely skilled musicians, or whether they just piddle around now and then, there really is no downside to expanding your musical abilities.
Honestly, this is the plain truth in a nutshell: there really is no downside to expanding your musical abilities!
